Bunnings Launches PowerPass Pro Rewards

Bunnings has rolled out PowerPass Pro Rewards, its biggest overhaul to the trade loyalty program since 2011. If you run a PowerPass account, it's worth five minutes to understand what's changed before you decide whether to switch.

What's actually changing

The old PowerPass Classic model gave you an instant discount at the register. Pro Rewards replaces that with a spend-and-earn credit system: you earn Pro Reward Dollars back based on how much you spend, rather than getting a discount on the spot.

  • $100 back on your first $2,000 spent
  • $50 back for every additional $1,000 spent
  • Six membership tiers - Member, Essential, Plus, Elite, Ultimate, and Black - that scale with your annual spend

The extras that come with higher tiers

Once you're spending enough to move up the tiers, Pro Rewards adds a few genuinely useful perks:

  • Fuel discounts through Shell Card Lite - up to 8 cents off per litre
  • Qantas Business Rewards points on higher tiers, with the usual join fee waived

Classic vs Pro - you have to pick one

If you're already on PowerPass Classic, Bunnings isn't forcing you across. You can keep your current instant-discount setup, or switch to Pro Rewards - but you can't run both. Dual membership isn't allowed, so it's worth doing the maths on your own spend before you commit either way.

Is it worth switching?

It depends entirely on how much you spend at Bunnings each month and how you value cash-back-over-time versus a discount at the register. A high-volume trade business chewing through materials weekly will clear tiers fast and could come out ahead with fuel and Qantas perks on top. A smaller operator buying occasionally may find the instant Classic discount still suits better.

Same logic applies to your marketing spend, not just your Bunnings account: run the numbers before you commit either way. Our free ROI calculator does exactly that for a marketing budget the way you'd do it for a loyalty tier.

Full program details and account options are on the Bunnings Trade Portal. If you want a second opinion on the numbers for your business, drop us your current membership type and rough annual spend via a free growth audit and we'll help you work out which option actually saves you more.
